Barbara Ferguson Williams is a lifelong resident of Colleton County, born and raised in the small town of Yemassee, where she continues to serve the community she calls home. With deep local roots and a heart for service, Barbara carries a strong commitment to strengthening youth and families across the county.
She holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a Certificate in Applied Behavioral Health. Professionally, Barbara serves as a Behavioral Health Caseworker with AmeriHealth Caritas, supporting Medicaid recipients and helping individuals and families navigate behavioral health services with care, compassion, and accountability. Her background in counseling and behavioral health uniquely equips her to understand the challenges many young people face and to advocate for the support systems they need to thrive.
As Youth Development Director, Barbara leads with conviction and purpose. She firmly believes that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow, and that with the right guidance, structure, and encouragement, they can rise above any obstacle placed before them. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that mentorship, stability, and consistent support create pathways for long-term success.
Barbara is passionate about helping young people recognize their value, build confidence, and develop the resilience necessary to navigate life’s challenges. Through her service, she seeks to cultivate environments where youth feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow into responsible, purpose-driven men and women who will one day guide others.
Rooted in faith, family, and community, Barbara approaches her role with integrity, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to building a stronger future for Colleton County—one young life at a time.
