Latoya Ackerman Lynah

Director of Family Engagement

Latoya Ackerman Lynah is a proud native of Colleton County, born and raised in Padgett. She is the daughter of Garner and Thelma Ackerman, who shaped both Latoya and her sister, Wartina, into the women they are today by instilling the importance of never taking their eyes off God. At home, Latoya is blessed to be the wife of Hillie Lynah Sr., a U.S. mail carrier, and the mother of two high school students, Samuel Garner Lynah and Hillie Lynah Jr. She is also a devoted aunt to two special nephews she loves as sons and a proud mother figure to four grown children, along with eight cherished grandchildren.

Latoya is a graduate of Ruffin High School, Class of 1996. She earned both an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Arts in Information Technology from Webster University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology from Ashford University.

With a deep commitment to serving Colleton County, Latoya has dedicated 25 years to the Colleton County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs, doing business as Colleton C.A.R.E.S. She currently serves as the Early Intervention Supervisor. This role is truly her passion, as she and her team support families and children from birth to age three—and in some cases up to age six—who have a variety of developmental needs.
